SARAH PEAKE REPORTED HOUSE BILL 5092 IS DEAD

Thank you for your inquiries and letters sent to your representative and members of the Joint Committee on Municipalities.

Read EDOA letter to the committee

House Bill 5092 would have demanded unreasonable requirements of dog owners and allowed unfair and unnecessary penalties on dogs by instituting fees and misplacing punishment.  This bill, put forth by an anti-dog interest group, was opposed by EDOA and many other animal welfare groups. .  http://www.mass.gov/legis/comm/j10.htm

EMERGENCY PET FOOD DROP OFF LOCATIONS

Donations can be dropped off at THE CAPE COD DOG (Route 6) and/or NAUSET KENNEL (Nauset Road) both located in Eastham.

Lower Cape Outreach acknowledges the need for food and supplies to the four legged friends housing with receipients of emergency assistance.   Donations are now being accepted at this time. Lower Cape Outreach runs nine food pantries on the lower Cape.

In the past year, over 3500 men, women and children have turned to our volunteer staffed pantries for a total of 5176 food orders valued at $60 per order.

Quarterly food distributions deliver bulk food products from the Greater Boston Food Bank. Distributions are held the second Tuesday of February, May, September and December.

Additionally, Lower Cape Outreach Council provides holiday food baskets over Thanksgiving and Christmas. Last year, over 1,000 households received the all the fixings for a traditional American holiday meal.
